Privacy Policy

Fade is a private debt tracker for iPhone. This page explains what the app keeps, what it never collects, and how the optional purchase and your device backups work.

The short version

Fade is built so there is nothing to trust us with. Your debts never leave your iPhone, and there is no server, account, or analytics to opt out of.

  • Stored locally. Your debts, payments, and preferences live in the app’s storage on your iPhone.
  • Nothing collected. No accounts, analytics, advertising, or bank connections — nothing is sent to a server or shared.
  • Apple handles purchases. The optional one-time unlock is processed by the App Store; your records are not part of it.
  • Backups are yours. If you back up your iPhone, iOS and your device settings decide what is included, separately from Fade.

Data stored on your device

Fade stores your debts, payments, and preferences in the app’s local storage. Fade does not send your financial data to a server or sync it through an app account.

That local data is what you enter and what the app derives from it: debt names, currencies, starting and current balances, payment amounts and dates, optional notes, and app preferences such as your default currency and appearance. All of it stays in the app’s private storage on your iPhone. There is no Fade account, no Fade server, and no third-party sync — the data never leaves the device through Fade.

What Fade does not collect

Fade has no accounts, analytics, advertising, or bank connections. You enter your debts and balance reductions manually. Fade does not collect or share this information.

  • No account or profile — there is nothing to sign in to and no identity tied to your data.
  • No analytics or crash-profiling SDK that builds a picture of how you use the app.
  • No tracking across other apps or websites, and no advertising identifiers.
  • No bank login and no connection to your bank — Fade never asks for credentials.
  • No sale or sharing of your information, because none of it reaches us in the first place.

You add every debt and every payment yourself. Fade has no way to observe your accounts, and it does not try to.

Purchases

Apple processes the optional one-time purchase through the App Store. Fade uses StoreKit to verify purchase access and restore purchases. Buying or restoring requires an App Store connection; your debt names, balances, notes, and payment history are not sent with the purchase. Verified access is read from StoreKit on this device.

The Fade Lifetime unlock is a single one-time purchase that removes the limits on stored debts and simulations. Apple handles payment, and Fade never sees your card or payment details. To confirm whether the unlock is active — and to restore it if you reinstall — Fade checks the App Store receipt on your device. Only that receipt crosses the network, not your financial records.

Device backups

Your device’s backup settings may include Fade’s app data in a backup, including iCloud Backup. These backups are managed by iOS and your device settings, separately from Fade.

If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer, your Fade data may be included as part of that device backup, just like other app data. Those backups are controlled entirely by iOS and your own backup settings. Fade does not manage, read, or transmit them, and the choice to keep or remove a backup is yours.

Your data and your control

Because your records live only on your iPhone, you are always in direct control of them. There is no account to close and no server-side copy to request or delete — everything is already in your hands.

  • Edit or delete a payment in the app and the balance it applied is restored exactly, not approximated.
  • Delete a debt and it is removed from the device along with its history.
  • Delete the app and its local data is removed with it, subject to any device backup you choose to keep.
  • Exports you make — such as a payoff receipt as a PDF or image — are created on your device and shared only where you send them.

Changes to this policy

This policy describes how the current version of Fade works. If the app changes in a way that affects your data, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change.

The full text is also shown inside the app under Settings → Privacy, so you can read it at any time without an account or a connection.
